It was a bit up and down 2017, not much camping was done but saying that I was still out camping and wild camping. <div style="text-align: left;">
I've been up Helvellyn twice once was on my own and a total failure weather was too bad and I got a call with some family stuff so headed back down, now as I'm probably in the worst shape of my life just getting up Helvellyn with a heavy back pack on was hard enough, never mind pitching the tent and then packing up and heading back down. It will stick with me for a while that camp been up at 5am on Saturday morning for work and after </div>
work heading up to the lakes which is a 2 hour drive then am not sure if it took me 3-4 hours to get up Helvellyn to pitch the tent have some food then head back down was an absolute killer, i got in the house at about 9:30pm total unaware how i actually got back home been so tired really is very dangerous to drive and I certainly would not advise it, I will also try not to relive that day again.<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I also got an invite to Camp Gus my mate John (northeastbushcrafter) local camp, what a great last camp of the year finished it off sweet, I will be returning to camp Gus too as the lads have got it looking great.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks to anyone who stops by to read my blog, I'd like to say I'd keep up with a monthly report in it but I'm struggling to make a video. I will always get out camping hopefully more</div>

in 2018 but who knows, I don't know where the road will take me. A new job and an extra few quid would be sweet as without the cash you can't get out camping.<br />
<br />
I nearly forgot to add the 2nd time up Helvellyn went great much better when the wife comes someone to share the experience and the torture going up.<br />
<br />
How stopping in the bothy for the night to film The Tormented Man Part 2 is beyond me. Took the family up to help me film and to star in the part 2 short film. We had great fun and the bothy to ourselves, thankfully as I'm not too sure people would be thinking everything is ok when I'm running about with a machete and blood stained clothes on, great fun we had until we went home the next day, walking out from the bothy we had to cut through the sheep field but after we had walked in the farmer must have put 3 young bulls in. I thought it would be fine until I saw 1 bull lifting the other one up with its head playing.....I suppose they started following at first then started to run at us, so we ran I was more worried about my partner and daughter. I have a feeling that the farmer had done this on purpose as i do know they have a lot of idiots going to roughside, unfortunately we were not them, as a result of this we won't be returning which is a shame as I do like the bothy but I wouldn't put my family through the risk. If you google it there is more deaths via cows/bulls than there is dogs in the UK alone.......scary.....<br />

Hello,<br />
<br />
So where to start.....<br />
<br />
<br />
January 2017 I was having massive head aches more like migraines, after a few days it got worse, it was always on one side of my head behind my eye.<br />
<br />
So I went to my Dr's. he sat me in the chair and asked what was wrong, I told him and he said best thing is to test the blood pressure first. Attaching the blood pressure monitor he told me to relax and not to talk.<br />
<br />
As the monitor grasped my arm tight, after a few seconds the Drs said the machine might be broke.....<br />
<br />
So off it went again this time the Dr said its very high and any higher it be hospital for you, meaning me. He told me he would have to do something, which would be prescribe high blood pressure tablets, he also said it probably be temporary and he would put me on the lowest as I was only 38 years old.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja8JvDfXKIB1O5yKHGQ972yP8J44DTiJP96_X916q8CaopUoA-m2AIoronA-T6ZnVs0FGyjUvGP22Bbbx-LQFXcD0w0lAkbrD2rcfmQ9aC-EEHvV-HX1LKCaXiRb1JEWa24A6mYRulzGJw/s1600/20170429_192828.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja8JvDfXKIB1O5yKHGQ972yP8J44DTiJP96_X916q8CaopUoA-m2AIoronA-T6ZnVs0FGyjUvGP22Bbbx-LQFXcD0w0lAkbrD2rcfmQ9aC-EEHvV-HX1LKCaXiRb1JEWa24A6mYRulzGJw/s320/20170429_192828.jpg" width="180" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My woods camp </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I was also told a blood test the next day would be needed. So the next day I went for a blood test and cutting a long story short, I would have to go back for the results.<br />
<br />
I was told then by the Dr that I have 60 year old kidneys, that the graph on the monitor he was showing me would be that of a 60 year old man, in fact my graph was pointing down at the bottom of the monitor, instead of being at the top of the screen going up.<br />
<br />
So what did this mean. He told me 3 people suffered from this.<br />
<br />
1... A pregnant woman while she was pregnant.<br />
<br />
2... A body builder taking protein shakes and eating meat.<br />
<br />
3... A person that ate a lot of meat/protein.....well that was me.<br />
<br />
I use to eat a bacon sarnie (4 slices) in that, every day, I would also eat meat every day and if it was a roast a lot of meat.<br />
<br />
So he also asked what I drank, my answer milk or pop, brandy too pmsl. He said this also would be a problem but my liver was fine, it was the protein I was getting from the meat. So I had to cut it in half what I ate, which I have done.<br />
<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Me in the hot tub outside The Cottage</td></tr>

I've now stopped the bacon every day and usually eat 1 a week. The meat and protein is halved if not more to help me.<br />
<br />
I tried to explain this in my video so I hope I have. I do not want people wishing me well, I'm on the mend. Period. You will see the videos of meat but only when<i> </i>I camp as its a weekend and I do eat the meat on the weekend but I wont eat as much.<br />
<br />
So no sympathy please. I know what to do and I am doing it and have been to Dr since and had more blood tests and he said you have improved but it will take a while.<br />
<br />
However at 38 years old I'm on blood pressure tablets for the rest of my life. things we have to do......yep but its needed. I have took time out to reflect and since then my good friend Big John ( northeastbushcrafter) has given me a kick up the ass see <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g1ZOuMRVcw" target="_blank">HERE</a>.<br />

So a positive note, my first holiday 7 days in a cottage with my now fiancée, Maxine. I proposed on holiday in the cottage, to describe it, it was a perfect holiday, yea it may not have been in a sun bleached country but it was in a cottage in the middle of know where. It also had a hot tub my first I've been in and it was perfect.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have just been editing a new video for youtube, just a few short clips of mini adventures outdoors, I have now the task to video myself speaking to introduce the different parts. I am hoping to get much more videos put together of my trips in 2017.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There is a video that when I watched made total sense tome and what was happening to my youtube channel. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfhW84xfA6gEc4hDK90rR1Q" target="_blank">Thomas Heaton</a> a photographer who also does videos for youtube and they are of the best quality in my eyes, the link to the video I refer to is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kvzaf8I84rQ&t=1s" target="_blank">HERE</a> ( 12.19) start it from there is what made me think.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpLProQIh3DUHcOlpz6Y6lAiD9fXRxjvOGrw84QEa1tSs-GIKvfg7XTJajZYmSVY7rncx9u7ZlpCl5hMISQlZPWBrK2wRaDWZJiNtIjDeCdKBtpsbJEA8oiVAuqa5Bm-j8O0R4zS8nawhO/s1600/phone+237.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpLProQIh3DUHcOlpz6Y6lAiD9fXRxjvOGrw84QEa1tSs-GIKvfg7XTJajZYmSVY7rncx9u7ZlpCl5hMISQlZPWBrK2wRaDWZJiNtIjDeCdKBtpsbJEA8oiVAuqa5Bm-j8O0R4zS8nawhO/s320/phone+237.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Helvellyn wild camp</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now when i watched it i am or have been posting any old shit just to get a video on youtube, that in 2017 is stopping so every video in 2017 will be of quality not quantity, so if that means (I do hope for 12 videos next year) that means there will be 12 bloody good videos. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If I miss a month that is because the trips I had that month were good but none footage was taken. i hope this make sense but its been bugging my for a while, i do watch and skip through alot of Wild Camping videos on youtube and i rate as I watch and think bad things, doesn't mean i don't enjoy watching them but more of an artist rating another artists work. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now i do know alot will be shouting at their screens we not artists am just doing a diary that's great but this youtube malarkey is not a diary for me, i leave likes open for people to show me if the video is good or bad, mid you there are jealous peeps out there so this is on the verge of disabling.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Langdales Campsite</td></tr>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
the comments are left open as unlike some the people have a right (I think ) to comment if they like or dislike or give you feedback etc. Note to the special peeps a Dairy is private......keep your videos on unlisted if this is the case if not your more full of shit and as boring as your videos.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Rant over again thank you for reading. 2017 is going to be a better year for vids I can feel it. All the best to everyone of you even the haters life is too damn short to get caught up in self indulge idiots.</div>

UPDATE</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As normal I have been quite on here and on my youtube channel. I have been busy but with work and normal every day things as well as helping out with a few friends etc.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I haven't been out much once last month it was a great break from the hustle, I never took the camera and obviously never blogged it. I went with my partner Maxine, my daughter and not forgetting the star dog Izzie. We headed into the woods to do a wild camp.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My plan was to goto Northern wilderness but price changes and rules for non members wasn't for me. It is a lovely woodland they have and the people are great very friendly but as I am a wildcamper it was not going to happen. So off I went for the local secret location a bit of woodland i don't have permission to use but I also don't have to pay, it's also out the way and as long as peeps don't see you camping they don't know you have been there or camped there, always follow the LNT (leave no trace).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
However the location i goto is in a place so deep in the woodland its very hard to even find it never mind know I've been there, so am thinking of setting up a little camp, for permanent use. So instead of covering up my fire every time I leave I will setup a rock fire pit and make it more a permanent setup.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I once again want to thank the people who have been very patient with my blog and youtube, to those who aren't subscribed please do so, i need a kick up the backside and now nobody comments on the blog i feel I am wasting my time, as for the youtube videos I still have one to do off a month or so ago, a woodland one, stay with me comments on how i can improve or just one saying more content wanted, i might just surprise you.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When the next camp will be or youtube vid or blog post any ones guess would be a good one. Keep on getting outdoors if am not subbed to you and you think I will enjoy your videos comment with sub me or something along them lines and i will sub you am in need of inspiration. An artist of videos has lost his inspiration. Peace to all hope to see you soon.</div>

Caught On Camera: Holiday Horrors</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<br /></h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Quite some time ago I was messaged from ITV asking if I would let them use some of my footage from youtube, keen to get on tv for the right reasons was always good for me, so my answer was always going to be yes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After a few emails and phone calls I was also asked to do an interview on why I go up the hills in any weather, in the past I have actually went up to test tents or just to try and capture some real crazy weather battering the tent.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Always remembering if your reading this and you too are planning these type of trips on the fells, be safe never be stupid they are a dangerous place, I know some who take them like it was there back garden but up there it can turn fast and you might not be able to just stroll down in a very bad storm.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyways ITV we filmed me the end hahah you will have to watch it to find out anymore.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<u><b>August 2nd 2016 9pm ITV</b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was asked to do an interview as well which I also agreed on however when the camer was rolling I went to absoulte mush dry mouth nerves going mad back bone lost, it was totally different than me videoing me so take note of that as I just hope i dont come across like a bambling idiot. However i also did a small video of them videoing me and watching that back I really dont know who ITV will edit it so it looks good.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<u><b> </b></u></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<u><b>So Tuesday August 2nd 2016</b></u> I'm going to be a nervous wreck watching myself on the tv, just to type that makes it feel nuts. So hopefully it be good but it might aslo be a good laugh watching me struggle in front of the camera.</div>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">
</h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It was a Thursday evening when I changed my mind from going into the woodland for a wild camp, I had the woodland planned from the weekend before, a nice bit of beef on the spit no alcohol, the plan was to have a midnight wander around the woodland, mainly looking out for wildlife.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Checking the weather more times than I check facebook (which is alot, which I need to come off but thats another story) it had been changing from lovely to showers for the woodland, so I was good to go. I flicked through my weather app to see Keswick with only a shower too and up high maybe a shower of snow, that was it plans changed and it was time to find a Mountain to go wild camp on.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Checking near Ullswater for a nice hill with views was hard, I just couldn't make my mind up but eventually after watching peoples vids of the summit and checking google images I decided on Great Dodd. Its not the smallest being 19th on the list of highest in England, as me and my partner have been doing some big walks locally we thought it be a good test to do as well for our fitness.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The usual Saturday came weather was still showing snow showers, i was up at the usual time 5:25am and off to work, finishing earlier than expected at 10:30am, we were on a flyer, a quick shower and we were off, bags were already packed the night before just the food and water to put it. My bag all in was 13.1kgs not bad for a winter wild camp and my partners was 10.2kgs.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We set off for the lakes around 11:30am and there for about 1:20pm, once there we got our bags on and headed off on the Old Coach Road towards Great Dodd, the weather was beautiful. A steady pace with a few breaks on the way up, I actually felt much better than the previous hill and it was twice as small.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It did get steep in 2 places but with a couple of stops we got up no bother and I think we took about 2 and half hours to reach the summit with video breaks and picture taking it was a nice time to do it in. There was a very dark cloud hanging over near the summit and it had already dropped a couple of hail stones but just 1 here and there.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tent Setup</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Once we reached the summit it was jackets on and then tent pitching it bottom to the wind so to speak, I had took the Lightheart Gear Solong 6 which is a 3 season tent all mesh inside so not so good for the snow but it was only forecast a shower so I thought it would be fine. I also had some walking poles to try with the tent which a good friend of mine let me borrow so a big thanks to Davey Mac.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Once I was happy with the pitch of the tent we climbed in and i cooked us tea as per usual Izzie got her dog food first, priorities and all that lol. Me and Maxine had a steak to share and 2 bags of minty lamb casserole made by me from scratch. I must have just finished warming the 2nd pan of casserole when the snow starting to fall, so I put the tent into storm mode and little did we know it was in for the night.</div>

Tent bound...once the tent was shut the snow and then the winds came stronger the wind picked up at its highest later on around 10 I think it was, the tent with the walking poles was much stronger, I have also made a modification to the ridge pole area, I sewed a pole sleeve for the ridge pole to slot into and that also seemed to help as the velcro fastenings are a bit flimsy.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We got some sleep very early on around 8pm with our bellies full and the weather not so good outside I thought if we have a bit sleep then it might clear up so we can spy the stars. At around midnight I awoke to a very bright light lighting the tent up like a lighthouse would, i could hear voices, the only words I heard was "where is the summit cairn." I had a spy outside incase someone was lost but once I opened the tent door I could see only about 5 foot in front of the tent.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I went back off to sleep to be woken up again at about 2:30am again what sounded like the same voice and the lights lighting the tent right up, I was just about to go out to see what was happening maybe they were lost, then I heard them running past, it was fell runners probably training, hats off to these people/machines they must be super humans.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I eventually went off again and was up at 3:30am the stars were out in full swing so I opened the door and peered out for as long as i could take before retreating back in the tent, I never got the temp or the wind temp but it was freeeeeeezing, so cold my eyes were watering like water falls.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I tossed and turned a bit and finally got up at around 5:30am the sky was getting light so me and Maxine got out to take some snaps, the view was breathe taking, you could see the temp inversion happening in the distance, it was like a sea, totally worth getting up early for.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We got back in the tent for a warm and a bacon sandwich then started to pack up, I had my Daughter to pick up at 11am so we couldn't stop any longer. Leaving no trace apart from a patch of the summit with no snow on the only patch, we were on our way, taking a different way due to my half asleep not checking the gps or map properly we ended going down the side of Great Dodd towards Little Dodd.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Off the path it was a slow hike down being careful not to slip, lesson learned on this trip micro spikes are a must. We got to the bottom and followed the start of Mosedale Beck and continued along the base of Great Dodd till we got on the Old Coach Road which took us an extra mile to walk, coming in at just over 4 miles. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
We both had a great time and the views were amazing making it even more worth while, we had a lovely break even if it was just for one night from the concrete jungle, the mad chaos life we live these days, so fully recharged and ready for the next adventure which should be in 2 weeks time with John.</div>

I had an invite to camp at <a href="http://www.northernwilderness.co.uk/" target="_blank">Northern Wilderness Bushcraft</a>, from John aka <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/northeestbushcrafter" target="_blank">Northeastbushcrafter</a>. It was going to be more of a meet and greet for me as I had not met the lads and a lad I had been wanting to meet for quite sometime was also heading over, Damian aka <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvwnpNXp1asbU6c-SyScw9Q" target="_blank">fellwanderer</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
It was Saturday and as per usual i had work on the morning from 6:30am till 11am, not a long shift but I was still needing to get up at the usual 5:25am. It always makes for a long day but I was buzzing to be going.</div>

I set off after a quick shower at around 12:30pm, using my satnav I found it with ease, there was a couple of cars parked in a field and 1 on the road side, i took the chance and went into the field with my van, with all the wet weather it had quite a bit of mud but I made it in and parked on the flat part of the field for an easy exit in the morning.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I had only been there a few seconds and John came up to meet me, he helped me with my gear into the woods which wasn't far to walk thankfully, its always good to get a hand i was on this trip alone, no partner or dog.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Ten years ago DJI brought out the phantom 1, I could see the potential for high up views of the landscape and birds eye views of my camp. The thing was the price, I could never bring myself to spend or get into debt for it. That was until now, my partner Maxine took it upon herself to offer me a very large sum of cash as a deposit to go and get myself one of these drones, after looking at them on ebay and to be honest they were still fetching good money I searched online, only to find jessops having a sale on with the drones and offering interest free for 12 months.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It was a no brainer to be honest a brand new latest one or a second hand one, needless to say i went and got myself a new one. i have had it out a few times now and captured some lovely vid. I will admit a few scary moments when the controller loses signal to the drone, even though if and when this happens it will return home 9the point you took off from) on its own, still with some much cash flying around so high up its touching cloth moments.</div>

<br />
Me and my better half had planned a wild camp for the 16th of January 2016, as normal I kept a watchful eye on the weather, changing from sunny to snow, it was going to be a proper winters wild camp.<br />
<br />
The snow was forecast to drop at 7pm so that would give us time to get up and setup and then start the long tent bound night, however this was to change on the Saturday morning and now the snow was on its way and dumping from 2pm till 12am giving about 10cm of snow added to what was already there.<br />
<br />
Maxine wasn't sure snowy icy country roads isn't her cup of tea and she didn't have any gaiters or micro spikes, so she made the hard but best decision as if we both had gone the dog (Izzie) would have to go too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So with the decision made it was just me going for a night in the snow. I had to get up at 5:30am for work but with a finish time of 11am it gave me plenty of time to driver over to the lakes and walk up to my camping spot. After work I re arranged all of my equipment as Maxine and Izzie were no longer going. I had tried my reactor stove but after over a year not using it, it was acting up so I chose not to take it and took my petrol stove instead.<br />
<br />
Swapping the stoves over and not thinking of needing a pan to cook my minty lamb casserole I had made on Friday, I forgot it only getting about 10 mins away, I had to turn round, thankfully this is all I forgot. I arrived at Dockray where I parked outside of the pub, kitted up and off I went.<br />
<br />
It had already begun to snow when I was getting ready, this was the beginning of a good dumping of snow, I took a slow pace stroll up to Gowbarrow Fell. Once I reached the summit I decided to go where I originally planned a hill called Common Fell. I could see it in the clouds and the snow was coming down heavily, I couldn't see a pathway so I decided to make my own.<br />
<br />
This was going to test my fitness to its limit and back again, as I have not been up a hill for about a year I am so unfit its not even funny, there is a term and I shall use it to describe how I felt walking up.....I was blowing out of my arse. The snow was the deepest I've ever walked in, off the track it was upto my knee and there was drifts that would go right up my legs.<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Took on my way home Samsung S6</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So as I walked a few steps up or should I say walked a few and fell a few with lots of breaks I was at the summit. The wind was ok and not too bad to get the tent up. It's a new tent I had it imported from the USA from a small company called Lightheart Gear Solong 6, it's a 3 season tent but its always good to test your knew gear.<br />
<br />
Once I was happy with my tent setup I got in out of the cold for a much needed tea, which I had made on the Friday a minty lamb casserole. Once I had that I took the awning pole out of the porch and closed the tent down for the night building the snow around my tent to stop any spin drift coming into my tent. I took a reading with my kestrel 3000 it was 19mph winds and the wind chill was -10.2 c. Once I was settled I got straight into my sleeping bag and turned on some music and just relaxed for the night.<br />
<br />
The wind picked up ever so slightly and it made the tent rattle and flap quite loudly making the inexperienced wild camper to think it was gale force winds, however I had checked the speed on my gadget and at 20mph I had nothing to worry about. The tent has 2 air vents at the top which you cannot close up so the snow was getting blown under the outta flap and on to the mesh which some snow was making its way inside the tent. Eventually the full air vent was blocked with snow and it stopped coming inside.<br />
<br />
I was planned to be up and sorting breakfast out at 5:30am but I woke up at 5:15am to find the ridge pole had burst out of is velcro fastening, the wind had pushed it out. so fighting to get it back and strapped back up again, I had to make plans of skipping breakfast and getting packed up and off the hill. It was a struggle as the wind was keep bursting the velcro strap and making the tent half collapse. Keeping hold of the pole with my foot I managed to pack away and get on the move.<br />
<br />
Walking down in the night it was dark and the wind was blowing the snow in my face visibility was poor but the ground conditions were worse. I would be walking along on top of the snow 1 minute and the next Id have fell into a drift one I fell into I was so shattered of the heavy walking I just sat there and had a drink of orange, got my breathe back and carried on. Once again i had chosen wrongly and trying to make my own path to get down quicker just made it even harder to walk in.<br />

I finally got down and back to my van for the drive home, the roads were fine only 1 road had snow on and that was the road leading onto the A66. The van made it with ease and I arrived safely back home greeted with a bacon sandwich from the other half.<br />
<br />
I had a great time but if your reading this thinking about going out make sure you are prepared for the conditions apart from the tent I had warm clothes (spare also) micro spikes etc I also left the plan with Maxine with places i would be parking and the route up and where I would be pitched for the night. My advice would be never take mother nature for granted respect it and enjoy yourself. Video to follow.<br />

<br />
It's been a while since I had camped in snow, so the plan was to head to Muker as the temperature had dropped and the snow started to fall.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Me, Maxine and my Daughter was to go, the first snowy camp for my Daughter. I think we all were a little excited to get there as it had been a few weeks since we had last been out.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Mr Wardle had warned me of the road been closed near to muker and that a diversion was in place a single tracked road.....well when I got there to it, I'd exaggerate and say it was a path lol more like a track for a tractor.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
The road or track went up and on my right was a quite steep drop, now if it had been summer it be fine but as muker is like 1500ft+ above sea level this Autumn was like winter ice had formed and snow was lying. i was in my Ford transit Connect front wheel drive with tyres that I had bought as part worn, which also were part worns. Hmmmm not a good idea to be going up a steep single track road.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Once we got safely to Usha Gap Campsite, Maxine was already in full swing of don't fancy going back that way. So I asked the farmer on which way was better to go back to Sunderland, his reply was to go back Tan Hill.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Tan Hill is the highest pub in the Uk Ive been a few times and it still never twigged that it also would be snowy and iced. I found this out or at least it twigged in my special brain once I hit the first 25% gradient. The van or should I say my skills got us up the grip on my front tyres is horrendous I need to changed them as they are a scary thing to think about. The van will spin its wheels in 3rd on a roundabout in the wet or loose control to the less experienced which when on snow or ice scared the shit out of me to be honest.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">

We got safely to Usha Gap and paid the Farmer and got our fire pit. I had collected and took lots of fire wood (broken pallets from work) which I knew we would need as it was forecast cold weather, I also brought my tripod which has a triangle steel firepit built in, i bought some coals too as back up.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Once our two tents were up, the Hilleberg Soulo for me and the dog and the Terra Nova Superlite Voyager for my Daughter and partner, we headed out for a walk.....</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX7vUV00azY_L_gu4XMCfWMAj6WEyP1OlTqGj2NT1HNPLfXG7hXXVt89jUbQTSrHhQQxOQpe-Xp2r56E7bpc7NZHlcgIvzJrRYs8rsORR1NJqi_Q4dK5dUGBEWvfMQVgNUcThl-B3LFXqi/s1600/galaxy+s6+185.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX7vUV00azY_L_gu4XMCfWMAj6WEyP1OlTqGj2NT1HNPLfXG7hXXVt89jUbQTSrHhQQxOQpe-Xp2r56E7bpc7NZHlcgIvzJrRYs8rsORR1NJqi_Q4dK5dUGBEWvfMQVgNUcThl-B3LFXqi/s320/galaxy+s6+185.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div dir="ltr">
The walk was going to be around the area and explore what it had to offer but we got stuck on the A1m for 40mins as a Bull got loose. :-/</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Forty mins sitting waiting pared up for a bull, spoilt our plans, both the A1 south and north was closed until it was moved add the crazy track we went on and am sure it was more like 55 mins extra.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlhbvRd-EPwGb9X2_D8hIOILt1uy_2b2D95mtin_U-F1ZHzqsmhT8o8SA_8RLfHGjVC2CsGCvQzbdIT2HkEj8kBHXc_3H7fuZ01GuKt5BqzHIWOYtDaW91mbKodVxA746wztXtu9nz2E4/s1600/galaxy+s6+207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlhbvRd-EPwGb9X2_D8hIOILt1uy_2b2D95mtin_U-F1ZHzqsmhT8o8SA_8RLfHGjVC2CsGCvQzbdIT2HkEj8kBHXc_3H7fuZ01GuKt5BqzHIWOYtDaW91mbKodVxA746wztXtu9nz2E4/s200/galaxy+s6+207.jpg" width="112" /></a>The walk was changed to a walk to the pub am sure its like half a mile but its a pleasant stroll along the road, once in the pub, or was it heaven fire was blazing and the pint was cold and nice, expensive it sure was.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
After a couple and £21 down we headed back to camp to get the fires on and food on. We were all hungry and the food was steaks and baby potatoes with gravy. We sat up till 12am my daughter turned in about 10:30am hot water bottle in my winter alpkit bag. Me and Maxine sitting chilling around the fire and burnt all the wood.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
I recorded temperatures of -4.6 and -8 in the wind chill it was bloody freezing but we were warm. Was nice to see walkers walking by and even asking for directions, adding we were nuts to be camping out in this. Well maybe or maybe not, see camping out in winter conditions isn't nuts if you have the right gear. If your sitting in your jeans and fav top maybe stupid lol but we all kept warm and only I felt a chill on my back sitting in the camp chair for so long. Noted I need a thicker fleece.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
A great time was had by all the only thing was the drive in and out which everyone didn't like, fun nevertheless but safety is always a good thin so knew tyres need to be bought before the next venture out.</div>

Well my back is still not 100% and I have my daughter this weekend, so wild camping on a hill isn't happening. So not to be one for missing out on good weather ( no rain) this Saturday I have planned to take the family to the Yorkshire Dales to a campsite (which allows fires).<br />
<br />
I can't wait for this its going to be cold -3 prediction from the BBC weather app and possible snow, does it get any better. I got some old broken pallets from work and chopped them all up bagged and dry stored......in the living room, don't worry I have a very understanding partner. :-)<br />
<br />
So plan of attack is finish work Saturday morning and head off, setup camp and maybe go for a walk with the pooch . Once back at camp set the fire away and keep warm whilst having some food and chillax time, which at the minute is a musst ;-)<br />
<br />
I was hoping my next mini adventure I could blog and take pictures live and send the onto the blog but there is no signal where I'm going so I may just have to draft blog it and send it up on Sunday night.<br />
<br />
So please check back and hopefully I will have some pics and a trip report of this trip, thanks for reading and following this blog, means alot.<br />

<br />
So where to start.....the weather is again shit this weekend, so I have cancelled another mini adventure, mind you it would have had to be on a campsite. It seems I have pulled my back or a muscle in my back so the quack says.<br />
<br />
So sitting here guttered am not getting out I have decided to share some great vids I have watched on this blog. Not all camping related but if not they will be awesome or funny, that is in my eyes anyways, it also allows me top add content to the blog when I have no adventures to share with yous.<br />
<br />
First is about Heaven, firstly am a none believer my choice, every one is different, after all the world would be boring if we were all the same, oh and if religion was never a thing there would be a lot less nastiness in the world that nobody can argue with.<br />
<br />
So back to the vid below its a short film about heaven/paradise from a mans point of view and boy do I wish it was like this lol. Enjoy.<br />
<br />

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Getting My Arse Into Gear</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hello to you, that is if anyone comes along to this blog anymore. I have been very quiet this year, think it was a well earned break that I needed. I want to get back into the blogging and even making my vids again for you tube. I have been out this year but the camera has been left at home or I've took it and done nothing with it or at the very least not a lot. I'm currently editing a vid of a few bits I have that's been lying about waiting to be edited for ages months in fact.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Its been a busy year 2015 but I need to get back out on the hills with my partner and Izzie. I want to blog about the trips and share pics like before and even live tweet pics etc. My fitness was never all that but after a year of doing no hiking or hill wild camping, its gone well what ever was there.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So if you are reading this and you have stuck by the silence awaiting my return, then thank you I am back.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Time for me this year has flown over there hasn't been enough hours in the day, it will be hard to find time to blog and video but I will make time to share it with you, it's also a good diary for me to look back on too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enough waffling I'm going to get on with a bit more of my vid, I have become lazy and have no inspiration to get me going, so a swift kick up the arse is what I need.</div>

A few lads and lasses who are into camping have a meet from time to time you may have seen my video of them our last one to see out the year is happening on the 10th October, in the Yorkshire Dales on a campsite I won't be putting which campsite but If you wanted to come, get in touch comment below or email me, all are welcome, I will be taking my partner in crime Maxine and my daughter and of cause Izzie the dog. Would be nice to see some new faces or old.<br />
<br />
Happy Camping<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
A last minute decision lead me and Maxine off wild camping in the woods, spurred on by the fact she had bought me a Hilleberg mesh inner for Valentines Day, not the usual present I'd have expected but one that I was over the moon to receive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl81Lxy6w0d1DMrKhpj5T7MQLtC4QsXmt-3IIsowdgVl52I3AFh0_IxVzPpr8b-Fdp8AktAQDHlMUxVXmdqj-8gGk9TJBh3Sugg7epa4Kvjm3MTCl-_4KYZGAe4wl2Uj-EtHTx8ga-4dWI/s1600/4675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl81Lxy6w0d1DMrKhpj5T7MQLtC4QsXmt-3IIsowdgVl52I3AFh0_IxVzPpr8b-Fdp8AktAQDHlMUxVXmdqj-8gGk9TJBh3Sugg7epa4Kvjm3MTCl-_4KYZGAe4wl2Uj-EtHTx8ga-4dWI/s1600/4675.JPG" height="200" width="150" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Maxine let me have it before Valentines day as she also suggested a wild camp on Valentines day, as the saying goes "she'll do for me."</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Doing the usually weather watch for a rough indication on what to expect, I was preying for no rain as I didn't want to put a tarp over the tent, the whole reason for wanting one was for the summer so I could relax looking around at the wild life or at night watching the stars, without the added insects crawling over me, its perfect for what I wanted it for but not so much for the winter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAHJ_ppR-oiN9QLcaMAet_ffErAemCRHir8e6aOFXTRUOlFhgLBk2pvsac4-zLoyhV_qziAtS84g4LdMXzxrRvNlwyjfpvGQl1nW8M0MYQ_U3cujqH7C7X3sNn4i1WninQ_C1QDR3P-Fok/s1600/4676.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAHJ_ppR-oiN9QLcaMAet_ffErAemCRHir8e6aOFXTRUOlFhgLBk2pvsac4-zLoyhV_qziAtS84g4LdMXzxrRvNlwyjfpvGQl1nW8M0MYQ_U3cujqH7C7X3sNn4i1WninQ_C1QDR3P-Fok/s1600/4676.JPG" height="200" width="150" /></a>The weather it was forecast to be cold as it is February the cloud was thick so no stars was going to be visible and it was touch and go on maybe a shower during the night, my mind was made up we were going but I'd have to put a tarp up. What I actually did was just drape 2 tarps over an army one and then my bigger one to cover the tent whilst the fire was on, mesh would not like to meet any stray sparks....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPJ4GXoteobQ2yZRJmy7gS6idMFN_KR5lYgnaMNgKvVmRcrylUvRWJmQ6dgaOFWOALv1Mn921xICcIUyAzMBj1wlJOvORwplCcICkNZp4qFC4jd-21EVnKwYelX6B_6lz8Uz5oq8DaMrFA/s1600/4750.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPJ4GXoteobQ2yZRJmy7gS6idMFN_KR5lYgnaMNgKvVmRcrylUvRWJmQ6dgaOFWOALv1Mn921xICcIUyAzMBj1wlJOvORwplCcICkNZp4qFC4jd-21EVnKwYelX6B_6lz8Uz5oq8DaMrFA/s1600/4750.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a>We arrived at our destination the area I want share with you as its nice to know we can get away without someone else being there. Duck was on the menu and I took my steel tripod I purchased off <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/905916956105742/" target="_blank">Kev</a>, cant big his work up enough it works spot on, so duck in the dutch over with some tattys I would later mash and make gravy out of the substance left in the dutch oven.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The meal was lovely and well worth the carry in of the heavy dutch oven and tripod. I never had a drink as I am on a break from it so as I type this am 2 weeks 2 days dry (t-total).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It never rained only little spots of rain now and again the whole trip went to plan, apart from nearly losing the duck as I took it out of the dutch oven and put it on the chopping board it slid right to the edge, nearly dropping into the fire, think both our hearts stopped 3 hours waiting for it to cook to see it get eaten by fire would have been soul destroying.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I took loads of video footage with my new camera (gopro 4black) but that wasn't meant to be, on returning home and uploading it to the computer, it said there was 31 video files successfully uploaded but time I deleted the files from the gopro I was left with 4 all just captured the next morning. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Guttered wasn't the word if it hadn't been a present it would have been in the bin, not to be beat though I will not make the same mistake twice and will continue my learning curve with it. Below is the video, the beginning is from Maxine's phone and the last bits what I could salvage from the 4 clips I have. Not my best video but considering what happened turned out ok.<br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Rickety Man Films</span></h2>
I hope some of you or all of you reading this have followed my failed progress of creating a website and doing more in the way of movies and the outdoors. Why you may ask well this year has had some crazy changes in my personal life, which include job change, love life change and soon to be moving home, so its been a hectic year to be fair and very little outdoors camping, Ive been out but not as much as I'd have liked, had two meet ups where a few from facebook have met up on a campsite and had a good time chilling sharing stories and having a few beers.<br />
<br />
Before I ramble on to much I will appolgise to those who have tried to add me on facebook, if I haven't met you in real life then am sorry but you won't be added, its my personal space not about the outdoors even tho from time to time i will use it to get my pics and vid out to my friends, if you wish to speak to me or add me on twitter please feel free I will follow back and when i do get out start tweeting pics etc.<br />
<br />
A massive thankyou for the people that have kept on following me its much appreciated and stay tuned hopefully things settle and I can start blogging again<br />
<br />
Thank You for your Support<br />

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On October 12th 2013 I set off from a place called Knock just next door to a lovely little village, where I had in the past stopped in a B+B with my ex partner Joanne, where we did our first big hill so to speak, which turned out to be one of the worst walks we/I had and still have ever done, the hill Great Dunn Fell tarmac road all the way up.<br />
<br />
I had my faithful companion and who Dave calls "my wife" I call her Izzie shes my 3 year old lurcher, we set off after a couple of pints in Dufton, this was my first taste of alcohol since I took a break from it 5 weeks and 5 days, I never did think it was possible as I do like most people enjoy a drink.<br />
<br />
I had done what I always do before a trip out and that is become a weather pervert, I watch it day in day out to the run up using different forecast from the net mobile apps and tv, it still only to be taken with a pinch of salt as they as you probably are aware can change as quick as pulling a different pair of pants on, however it was gona be gales this I was sure of, the speed is always a thing I get enjoyment out of recording, my geeky side, I do love my gadgets and have been called gadget man from my good friend Gill.<br />
<br />
Getting back to the trip with weather in mind forecast says 60mph max gust, I was quite excited for it to be and actually hit this speed as since I bought my Hilleberg Soulo I've only had it out in winds of a max of in the high 30's which for this tent is nothing, so to double this was going to be a real treat. So off we went me and the "wife" Dave and Paul.<br />
<br />
Knock Pike is not a very big hill and talking and stopping to spy around us it took us less than an hour to walk up just over a mile, yea I know your reading this thinking a mile only 396mtres high this isn't wild camping, get over yourself and piss off to someone elses blog, this is my blog you don't have to be here.<br />
<br />
Once near the top I could feel the ind picking up it was dark now too so head torches where on and the drizzle started, now drizzle for me is the worst kid of wet stuff to fall from the sky cause once you get a 30mph constant wind behind it it becomes a real pain and you and your furry friend gets wet quick.<br />
<br />
So the race was on, not a running race but a race for me to get the dog into dry shelter before she became too wet to get fully dry, rushing to put my tent up I failed to get the back end of the tent into the wind but I did make sure to get my guy lines out as far as possible and pegs in firmly.<br />
<br />
Out of the weather I got my warm kit on and waterproofs and went out to see if anyone wanted a hand, the ground was hard with rock under so pegs were a pain to get in, I knew Paul (kilburnicus) from YouTube had only had his tent up once and am not too sure if he had put it up with strong winds so I thought to lend him a hand first.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXdD59DvehG6N3dN2HgXOnfZ8zzU2hrtGPgl6FF7dmFKd7Tid2O_jpeN-Mkaot4Jyb3mHf2kJZ95zoKWUvcj4WHs0kkC8dW28BOfbxkyxf_KLv57B74xhWT8ke_N7IXqPj6rqXPkGtpuOZ/s1600/dave+paul+dog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXdD59DvehG6N3dN2HgXOnfZ8zzU2hrtGPgl6FF7dmFKd7Tid2O_jpeN-Mkaot4Jyb3mHf2kJZ95zoKWUvcj4WHs0kkC8dW28BOfbxkyxf_KLv57B74xhWT8ke_N7IXqPj6rqXPkGtpuOZ/s320/dave+paul+dog.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
He was putting the final pegs in the guy lines and had done well to get it up so quick Dave had already sorted his trusty Akto so I headed back to my tent for my food and to feed the wife. <br />
<br />
When I started out wild camping I bought a vacuum sealer machine from a local company to make my own boil in the bags, once you boiled the bag in water it would always leave a plastic taste and spoil the food, so after a few attempts I left it in the cupboard and bought my meals, however my mam recently bought a bag for me to try and low and behold no plastic taste, bought at morrisons its a pour and store bag, as for the food well thats the best there is, why cause I make the best casseroles hahaha.<br />
<br />
So the longish night was about to start a film loaded on my phone would have been good but I hadn't put one on so with full bellies the wife went to sleep and I put on some music and checked out the net and what it had on offer.<br />
<br />
Now and again sticking my hand out of tent with my kestrel 3000 wind gadget its a canny little device but on reading instructions takes 3 seconds to record wind now you and me know well you do if you been out on a hill in wind, them gusts can be strong but only for a second a quick sharp blast can flatten a tent but my gadget would probably say 20mph lol, so its not as accurate as I would like I popped out to capture some night shots too.<br />

<br />
As the night went on if you've watched the video you will see the speed was increasing tent standing up to it like a '<i>boss</i>' remembering too that I had it with the wind on the side. It was getting towards 11pm and I thought to get my head down as I had to be back home to pick my daughter up at 10am.<br />
<br />
An hour sleep and the wind woke me up I could still hear Dave and Paul chatting away they had went outside for a chat, I stuck my ear phones in and put music on low to send me back off, not having my usual half a bottle of brandy sleep is a hard thing to achieve, not that I think tent would blow away or get damaged etc I have full trust in this tent (Hilleberg Soulo). So music on low setting could I hear it nope so turned it up and just shut my eyes and enjoyed what I could hear, time passed and a light came over my tent, I took my ear phones out and looked out it was Dave asking if I was asleep and how could I sleep in this, meaning the wind had picked up think off hand it was over 50mph by now, tents at this speed are really noisy.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Another looking at Dufton Pike+ Paul's tent</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Trying to get back off to sleep was not going to happen but listening and watching the tent was enough for me I was free from the city, I didn't care and I had me wife with me. I did finally fall asleep just before 5am and woke up at 6am with the great sound of my alarm going off great, it was still dark outside and unbelievably Paul and Dave were still gassing in Paul's tent, just woke up and just couldn't help myself a wind up that I am, so I shouts across asking if they were having sex lol, needless to say I make myself laugh and Paul was hanging out of his tent shouting back that they were talking which just fanned the fire it carried on for a few minutes they came over to see me cooking bacon peering into my tent the banter carried on "so how was your sex this morning?"<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">after sex (sorry lads)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
All fun and games we are all good friends and that's what makes our trips fun. I'm not sure if I finished my bacon sarnie before the wind started to pick up from a 50+ to a highest ever recorded speed I have seen on YouTube 85.5mph that is max gust speed, the tent was blowing about a little the noise was terrific a real head ache I imagine for my wife who know was right next to me panting and looking very scared, I reassured her but I couldn't control my excitement where had this wind come from it was sudden and no sign of stopping.<br />
<br />
Watching Paul get out of his tent his tent was lifting and out went his sleeping bag a few hundred pounds worth in what seemed like a second, I was shouting at him and he ran off to get it he disappeared over the edge of the summit and to be fare I wasn't sure if he too had been blown away. Camera on he came back into view no sleeping bag, I had been watching his tent and began to shout at the top of my voice to get back in as his tent was going to be next, he couldn't hear a thing.<br />
<br />
Dave was also now getting blown about outside with his camera phone on, it was comical watching them but my eyes were peeled on the clouds, I could see what I can only describe as a funnel forming (tornado) really could this be why the sudden change in wind.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJkbzGGbHpdkh6DL-oXqdXoebudK51lpZGLwGw8NvDN7F2myljlKuwGKNFHtDu71EtP34SisAON58F4XDpZvQB5UM_wovr65k0Bjoa5aTeLAMj7LOqFHrUHkMMW3JLEXlN2V2S4C2W5ChT/s1600/wind+swirl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJkbzGGbHpdkh6DL-oXqdXoebudK51lpZGLwGw8NvDN7F2myljlKuwGKNFHtDu71EtP34SisAON58F4XDpZvQB5UM_wovr65k0Bjoa5aTeLAMj7LOqFHrUHkMMW3JLEXlN2V2S4C2W5ChT/s320/wind+swirl.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is the clouds forming what looked like a funnel</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I had my plan if this thing turned out to be one and hit the hill then my exit was to run with the wife and leave the tent grab the camera and film what maybe my last minutes. Excited wasn't the word I felt alive I can only imagine what a storm chaser gets from following the storms in the USA. The wind still battering the tent the clouds were actually going round the funnel looking thing, it never did turn into a funnel like a tornado and the wind dropped back down to gale force this was my opening to drop the tent and get down so I would be on time for my Daughter.<br />
<br />
Dave offered his help to get my tent down as the winds were still very strong but I wanted to see if I could manage it myself, I did and it felt good, I was all packed and said my goodbyes to my mates, I told Paul I'd keep an eye open for his sleeping bag.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh1gB1RIvVpVlsWP1cpVaDweH7myZS-xQAla7wQ7QTUfjYDQ5Z7_6_3AhdOwLGzLObJaQTZRh7KiC8LxzRyouIPfLn7e4YJ4nrzGiE_KSKVz-Gj8qzbZctN5_tCIbuVFofDGhkYOr4cZdN/s1600/swirl+wind+over+camp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh1gB1RIvVpVlsWP1cpVaDweH7myZS-xQAla7wQ7QTUfjYDQ5Z7_6_3AhdOwLGzLObJaQTZRh7KiC8LxzRyouIPfLn7e4YJ4nrzGiE_KSKVz-Gj8qzbZctN5_tCIbuVFofDGhkYOr4cZdN/s320/swirl+wind+over+camp.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">took on my phone this was looking back to where I had camped</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
As I walked down the hill I thought I'll venture over to the opposite direction to where I was heading to a small ledge to see if I could see it, wouldn't believe it I could see it a bright orange bag, I shouted and shouted I wasn't far from the summit and as there was no wind where I was I could hear the 2 lads saying that they could hear me shouting, they walked over the summit and I waved them down to where I was the chuffed smile on Paul's face when I showed him where his sleeping bag was will stop with me sometime, its nice to end it with something happy and not the usual we lost this or that got broken.<br />
<br />
I headed back and made the car in perfect time I set the satnav away and I would reach my Daughter dead on time so a nice steady drive home lots of pop and a full big bag of sweet was consumed to keep me awake. At home I was still buzzing with excitement my tent had done what I trusted it would do, this trip won't be forgotten.<br />
<br />
People may leave you but they can't take away your memories, my advice to people would be to hold on to them and next time your out in crazy weather grab ya camcorder it don't have to be perfectly lined up on a tripod capture the time. Thanks to Dave and Paul.<br />
<br />
A big thanks to all that follow me on YouTube for the comments likes and subs, it really does mean a lot and I dig you all thanks for being my friends. I hope to watch your wild camping vids.<br />
<br />
Be safe and always have a plan to get out of a situation but also remember sometimes staying put is the best way but only you can make this choice.<br />
<br />
Enjoy the outdoors where ever it may take you.<br />

Its been a while since I wrote on this Blog, I've had only one trip out since my last visit to Catbells, where I camped along side the River Wear. So this trip to a campsite on Bank Holiday Monday, was a blessing. A well earned trip I knew it was going to be tripless as I have no holidays booked in, I have a few videos still to put together but just stop with me they will be up next week some time.<br />
<br />
However soon I'm going to the Hilleberg Tweet up, a few people I know are going so that should be great fun, that's all I will say about that.<br />
<br />
The week after am taking my Daughter and dog to the Bushcraft Show something I feel is going to be great as a few new friends I have made through Youtube will be there, really excited about this a full weekend of camping and cooking and spying what the Bushcraft show has on offer.<br />
<br />
So this is just a quick post just to let you all know what am doing at present. Not much as it happens and I have to wait till June when my next full week is off plenty of trips away then I feel.<br />
<br />
The above picture is my new tent, I got it very cheap brand new £320 from ebay very pleased, I will be using this when I go car camping or a low down hill where I find I want a bit of space with dog.<br />

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A week off work again and it was Catbells I wanted to camp on, passing this small ruggered looking hill many times, heading over to buttermere, I've often said I bet the view from there is good, so a camp has been on the cards for a while.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As normal I left the packing till the actual last minute rushing about like a mad man, as I was to meet Dave and Paul at Scotch Corner Services, late again, I would be but only by about 10 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A little sneaky text wind up was on the cards, as I arrived at the services, I text Dave to tell him I was packed and would be setting off now and hopefully be there in an hour, they had arrived early so had being there for about 3/4 of an hour already, I left the text for a few minutes to make him sweat and then sent him a picture of his car parked up, it back fired and 15 minutes later they came out lol.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Dave has a couple of walkie talkies, so we would use these to make the drive a bit more fun, me being on my own, Paul and Dave sharing Dave's car. We set off and took our time, saving fuel is a plus point in these hard times, every penny counts. We tried for a pint at a hotel but it didn't have a bar, checking the time, we decided to just find a car parking space and head up, am glad we did make this call, as we would have missed sunset and it was a fine one.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEOYNWzipQkwb6HHNh39gvQ84WthIo9X11Xz4Xdd2xzGW-tFSB9FdX9yAo3vXqyy8r8mbITJ8nQyNVsoY7YkBfw9gT5ygd8jm3U4SM5_t2U-WpC-ZVtHiDj5ln9kcNAH67VLca9JqS3_Ew/s1600/054.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEOYNWzipQkwb6HHNh39gvQ84WthIo9X11Xz4Xdd2xzGW-tFSB9FdX9yAo3vXqyy8r8mbITJ8nQyNVsoY7YkBfw9gT5ygd8jm3U4SM5_t2U-WpC-ZVtHiDj5ln9kcNAH67VLca9JqS3_Ew/s200/054.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We hit the summit and there was a family sitting chilling out, no place to camp but we already knew this, our camp would be just down from the summit, a little over a mile from where we parked. We got our tents up quick so we could get out and film the glorious views. The weather was so still and calm, it was bliss to say the least, not many times have I witnessed it so still on top of a hill.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

Photos taken and a bit of videoing it was time to get my tea on, I was starved and Look What We Found, would serve as an excellent meal, adding a bread bun for my greediness. We chatted and watched Dave cooking his steak and after smelling that thing cooking it was time for my 2nd boil in the bag meal.</div>

We stood outside our tents chatting away for hours and at one point we seen some lights coming down from Bull Crag, it was mountain bikers around 12 of them, they came past us and headed over Catbells, we could only imagine it would be a struggle getting bikes down the scramble bit, as though it is an easy scramble, it was very slippy and it was becoming frosty, so it would have being quite slippy.</div>

The night passed pretty quick and we were all up at 7am. Cooking bacon and absorbing the view down to Derwent water, the wind had increased and you could see it was choppy on the waters, my plan was to camp solo on an island.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We headed back down and parted, I headed for another parking place, a one that would be close to Derwent water, so i didn't have far to walk carrying Kayak and camping gear, i think in all honesty I talked myself out of it before i got there. I went to the opposite side to Catbells but the only parking that I could see was pay and no overnight, I ended up in a one way exit road, it was a massive exit so parking my small car would not cause any bother but I wouldn't leave it here overnight.</div>

So out I went for a bit fun on the Kayak hitting some very small waves, made fun for me am not 100% feel safe on the kayak so a small wave is me being at sea, lol but it was fun, I did bottle the island, too rough for me, so I headed home, it wasn't a failed trip, I had enjoyed this trip immensely and if I go again, I will be taking my Kayak and I do hope for calmer waters so I make it on the island.</div>
